| My
goal for the 2,578 square-foot cafe/galleria is to create an atmosphere
in which the patron feels as though they are stepping into a painting by
Gustav Klimt. Elements of his paintings and murals are utilized, and his
sense of style resonates throughout the space. Dimensional interest is achieved
by using curvilinear elements that echo the female figure; they are adorned
with symbolism and iconography comprised of mosaic and glass tile. Other
elements are gilded in gold and attached to the ceiling. Chairs are simple,
metal-frame construction with solid, venetian purple cusions--enough pizzazz
without competing against the surroundings. Since many patrons may be taking
their food "to go," service counters are unobstructed and pathways
are wide to ensure accessibility and circulation of the space. Overall,
my intention is to create a vibrant and uplifting environment where people
can feel comfortable to come and go as they please. |
